Preserves

Preserves is the art of making marmalades and jams through heating up fruit. Masters of this skill will also be able to make some spreads which aren't generally considered preserves, but are produced in a similar manner.

Because preserves do not rot like other food, they can be kept for emergency consumption, however this is somewhat wasteful and using them to make sandwiches or spread on toast will get the most sustenance out of them.

To prepare a preserve you will need an iron saucepan, a heat source such as a campfire, and a container to hold the preserve, such as a jam jar.

Once prepared, spreads can be eaten straight from the jar eat from <jar> or used in recipes. Some of the simplest recipes involving spreads can be found using the cookery command.

Preserves is taught by the hulking old lady and the sweet old lady in Karinthia.
