Mine

Mines are a primary industry which can extract various commodities directly from the ground, including coal, silver ore, bronze ore, iron ore, gold ore, sivrite and gemstones.

Over time active mines will exhaust the resources in the ground, and across long periods a city would need to close down old mines and open new ones in areas with fresh deposits to be mined.
